Stamford behaves like several towns stacked on one map. North of the Merritt, Long Ridge and Roxbury sit on wooded acreage with stone walls, well water and septic fields. Freeze and thaw over shallow ledge lifts pavers that were set without a real base, and the October oak drop in North Stamford is heavy enough that fall cleanup is honestly a two-visit job.

Deer pressure above the parkway is as heavy as anywhere in the county, and the tick load that travels with it is a good reason to rethink a soft lawn edge against the woods.
